Crusader was built in Tawain1976, hull#122. It was the 22nd of 200 Peterson’s designed and built by Jack Kelly and Doug Peterson. The boat was a pioneer in performance cruising designs. Crusader features a low -profile center cockpit with a 12-13 ft. beam. The long fin keel with cutaway forefoot and afterbody reduces wetted surface for good light air performance. A full molded in skig supports the rudder provides good protection during an occasional grounding. Displacement 30,000 lbs.,(10,000 of this buried in the lead ballast) gives Crusader easy motion at sea. Crusader has two heads with showers, one with a Vacu Flush (Sealand), two staterooms, great galley with refrigerator and two freezers, and a brand new Yanmar 88hsp. motor. On board are custom cabinetry ,watermaker, autopilot, radar, two computers for navigation and E-mail through the SSB ham, and VCR /DVD for extra entertainment. Sails include a large Purple/White gennaker, storm jib, stay sail, Yankee jib, and a full batten double reef main sail. On deck of this cutter rig are davits, solar panels, electric windless bimini, and a dodger. We are the third owners of this well equipped Peterson 44.
